Pros

I worked at the Sylvan in Hammond. I don't even think it's open anymore. I loved my boss. He was very laid back. My co-workers were easy to work with. The students were open for growth.

Cons

The pay is not great, and the overall style of teaching at Sylvan isn't either. For a struggling student, I would definitely recommend one-on-one tutoring. At Sylvan, they do three-on-one and the students don't get the individualized attention they need.

My coworkers were terrific to work with and helpful with tips. I found their attitudes were positive overall and appreciated this.

Cons

Communication was not always clear and training was vague at best. Salary was insufficient and time-off policies were a challenge.
