      Pay your teachers a fair wage

      Great people to work for. An opportunity to work with kids in a good environment

      Cons

      Whoever says the pay is good must live in a very different economy than I do as it is insult wages around here. I work as a Substitute teacher in a local school district and my hourly wage for a day I am called in is more than double than what I received here. Materials are dated. High turnover makes it difficult to make good connections between students and teachers and that is essential for struggling students.

      Pros

      Caring teachers and nice kids who want to do better in school. Flexible hours.

      Cons

      Awful pay--around $12 an hour to tutor up to three children. Materials are dated. Too much record keeping during tutor time. Three children at the table are too many. It does not allow for the kind of quality tutoring Sylvan is charging parents for (but not paying the teachers for). They are really ripping off parents with that set-up.

      It's always nice to get to work with kids and in education if that's your passion.

      Cons

      If you have a Centre Director job prepare to have no life if you want to be successful, and by successful I mean work everyday of the week on a low salary. So much pressure and no support, at least in Toronto anyway
