Pros

It pays better than unemployment. Synergy will clear you, which at least makes you more marketable when you decide you've had enough and it's time to leave.

Cons

Core 8-4 hours ruthlessly enforced per the contract. There was no work from home (WFH) option until COVID hit. Even now WFH 8-4 core hours are enforced, assuming the VPN isn't overloaded. If you can't connect, you drive to work that day. Do not expect to have a personal/home life. Even if not on-call personnel will be called unexpectedly in evenings, weekends, holidays, etc. You may be asked to take a laptop with you on vacation. There is no long-term planning at the system level to coordinate release deadlines for the larger projects. Development groups then compete for technical resources which causes frustration when multiple project managers are trying to have their releases pushed out simultaneously. If you are a new hire you must have strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems with little or no documentation to help. A lot of knowledge was lost in 2018 with the contract change, and the few people who remain are so swamped with work that they have very little time for knowledge transfer. Unfortunately competent new hires tend to go elsewhere after 6-12 months, right about as they're getting trained and productive on the systems.

Thank you for leaving your review on Synergy—we’re sorry to hear it was not a pleasant experience for you. As a government contractor, Synergy’s work hours and environment are largely dictated by our customers (the government agencies that we support). This contract is mission-critical, sustaining systems that must remain in production 24/7 as they support our military in active service around the world. Depending on the project, that does require some staff (including management) to be in an on-call rotation during “off-hours.” If you are considering a position with Synergy, please discuss the core hours and on-call requirements before interviewing. Not all positions have these requirements. While we can agree that the work is demanding, many of our staff find that challenge to be exciting and even motivating! Of course, though, no one likes to be in a situation where the assignments are so overwhelming that you never get ahead. We completely agree that the initial transition into this particular contract was a huge hurdle with an almost impossible deadline, and that some of the decisions we had to make during that time were far less than ideal. We’ve been transparent about that with the team there and have learned many lessons that will be very helpful should we ever face a similar situation. That’s probably where you observed some “butts in chairs” hiring decisions that had to be made early on. But thankfully, most of those inexperienced hires have settled into a productive regimen and some have become star players on our team! Most who have remained on the team would agree that the culture has evolved into a manageable environment, and we are able to bring on quality additions to the team as needed.

Pros

Synergy is the place to be, an awesome company! As a new employee I was immediately welcomed as part of the Synergy Team! Great benefits, and competitive compensation as well! After just a short time it is evident, I made the right decision to join Synergy!

Cons

None at this time, and likely none in the future.

Thank you for leaving your feedback on Synergy! It’s unfortunately less common for the contented employees to give feedback, but your response is much more typical of what we hear than the complaints that are often posted on review sites. We’re very glad to hear it’s been such a positive experience for you and are delighted to welcome you aboard the team.

Pros

I have worked at Synergy for almost four years. I have seen them grow from 50 employees to better than 350. A lot has changed in that period. One thing, however, has not changed, and that is the pure passion of the senior executives for the success of the company. The senior executives are dedicated, available, empathic, and above all else great leaders. I have had the privilege of growing and moving about through different roles and contracts within the company, which has given me the unique opportunity to work closely with all the senior executives on one point or another. I can tell you that they are truly genuine people who care about their employees. Additionally, each of the senior executives support your success, and work individually with you to get your career to the next level. They fully subscribe to the theory of Richard Branson – Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough, so they do not want to. Since I have been with Synergy, they have pushed me to finish my degree, and I did. Now, they want me to define my next steps, whatever they may be. While at Synergy, I have had the opportunity to work on far more different areas than my original position called for; essentially my resume has doubled in size and skillsets. Meaning, I was given opportunities to move up and laterally as I desired and felt confident. I never felt pressured to take on something I was not confident I could handle. Additionally, the senior executives understood when mistakes happened, because they knew you were growing and expanding your horizons. I have worked for companies who pigeonholed you into one position, and I can tell you that gets old quick. Some people may like repetition and monotony, but that is not the culture at Synergy. Synergy gives you opportunities to move and grow. Do not let any other reviews change your mind. Synergy and its leadership are a great company and a winning team. Every company has employees that for one reason or another just do not fit. Remember, great teams did not start that way; they are built. Pros: • Salary is highly competitive • Benefits are great, and the company seeks to add value frequently • Educational Budget for your personal growth • Great leadership • Bright future – Synergy is growing and is hungry to do so • Great employees • Opportunity for personal growth

Cons

• None – Synergy is literally the best company I have worked for to date.
