Pros

We are surrounded by fantastic people that are intelligent and dedicated employees. Experts in their field that work hard to get things done and to provide the best possible product to customers. Employees have a high drive to not fail which is good but also is a con

Cons

Employees are loaded with self-service HR, IT, procurement tasks which take lots of time to achieve. Syngenta tried to unify services as part of an integrated strategy but the result is that the remaining support specialists are spread too thin, have minimal knowledge on how to assist specific needs. The workforce spends hours trying to figure out how to do any support question. Syngenta spends countless hours trying new initiatives, audits and quality reporting and not enough time being innovative; too many people need to be consulted for any decision.

Pros

Good benefits, Swiss company. Tries to do the right thing overall.

Cons

Heavy beaurocracy, mired in politics and inertia. With few exceptions, extremely poor technical leadership. Immature managers promoted based on the Peter Principle. No attention to career development and few opportunities for growth. You are supposed to be grateful to have a job there. People stay There forever, which disincentivizes them to learn, grow, and adapt to change. Promotions are not based on qualifications or skills, so management is erratic and mercurial. Decision making is irrational, and colored by personal whim, self interest, and politics - not the betterment of the organization or its strategic vision. Thus the company itself suffers and will continue to struggle to keep up with its competitors. Pay is not competitive with the market in the U S.

Downward Spiral - Can't seem to move upward

Pros

Syngenta used to be a great company. Unfortunately, it cannot decide on a direction and morale is decreasing quickly.

Cons

With too much disorganized change, morale is extremely negative. Colleagues are taking frustration and anger out on one another and management has lost all control of their people.
