Siloed university with confused priorities

Pros

Good medical, dental, and health benefits.

Cons

Parking costs an exorbitant amount for staff/faculty. There is so much structure and hierarchy in the organization that it's nearly impossible to feel valued; departments are so siloed that there is an extreme amount of fiscal waste - some departments are struggling to get by on the bare minimum, while it seems that others are swimming in money. This university is the definition of organizational inefficiency.

There is zero transparency and everything is secretive, many closed doors! Little autonomy due to hierarchy

Pros

The dependent tuition and remitted tuition assistance is huge. Great retirement savings plan where company will contribute 10% after one year of FT service. There is a full benefits package offered.

Cons

There is little autonomy and has zero transperency, lunch breaks are mandated at a specific time. The banafits package is well versed because the pay is not comparable at all. Plus there is a Max of a 2% raise each year..maximum.

Pros

The Institute is filled with very talented and highly qualified people. Employees at the lowest level bend over backwards to help one another and work well together. The Institute puts out world-class programs and services that focus on furthering the post service lives of veterans and their families.

Cons

Senior management is out of touch with their people and don't effectively utilize their talented employees. Senior members of the team value the funders of the Institute over their employees and core customer; the veteran. Lots of closed door conversations and decisions made with little input from junior members.
