Pros

Work/life balance was good, at one point company felt like they cared about the employees. The CEO cares about his employees and the mission.

Cons

As the company grew, the work culture became a negative experience for me, and there was no opportunity for career growth. Did not feel respected by management.

Well, this review certainly made us unhappy. It’s absolutely on us - we didn’t show you, frequently and loudly, that we care about you. If there are specific people in “management” that you felt didn’t respect you, or specific parts of the work culture that you didn’t find positive, please let us know! We always want to improve, and it sounds like you have specific recommendations that we would find helpful. As to the lack of opportunity for career growth, we completely get it. We’re not a big company - at a certain point in your career, you probably won’t be able to get any further with us because we just don’t have that many positions available. That said, we hope our training budget helped you get the skills you needed to get to your next job. We want you to succeed and thrive, whether here at TCG or somewhere else! Good luck to you in all your endeavors.

Thank you for your review! We’re not sure why you didn’t click the “Recommend” button, but we certainly appreciate your feedback! Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to change that X into a checkmark Unfortunately, as you note, raises in a role are restricted by the rates we bid for that position. That is, when we bid 3% increases each year, we can’t increase rates more than that 3%. That said, there’s sometimes an opportunity to switch to a new job within a project, which could lead to a larger salary increase, or to move to a new project, where your salary would be based on the rates in that new project. Please keep your eye on the open positions report you get from Recruiting every Monday.

Pros

First of all, the interview process was very good. It was somewhat backwards compared to my past interviews, because my first talk with TCG was about what TCG is offering me, instead of a technical screen. Following this was a culture interview (still non-technical), finally followed by a technical exercise & review with an engineer. None of this was particularly exhausting or nerve wracking, felt much more like a conversation and not a negotiation. The benefits are frankly put insane: 401k, healthcare, vacation policy, etc are all above average if not the best I've had (in my experience) HR & the Happiness team are extremely helpful. The employees come from very diverse backgrounds leading to many perspectives, interests and view on the world. Also the CEO Dan Turner is very cool and friendly, and has a deep love for Science Fiction & Fantasy

Cons

Can't really think of anything. I suppose that if you want to avoid federal contracting then they may not be a good fit, but that's not really a problem

We’re glad you enjoy working at TCG! And thank you for sharing your experience with others. We love a flattering review and we really appreciate the time you took. It's important to us to make sure the interview process is right for our candidates; to that end, if you have suggestions for how to improve it please let our Recruiting team know! Or talk to Happiness or your manager or really anyone. Your recent experience is invaluable to improving our processes. Which sounds like corporate-speak gibberish but we mean it sincerely.
