Pros

New office is nice. (It says to leave at least 5 words but I can’t think of anything else nice to say.)

Cons

“AI” product is a joke-there’s more AI in a Happy Meal from McDonald’s. Leadership is terrible. CEO wants to be an evil genius but is just evil. Sales team doesn’t sell anything. The benefits are terrible. Torch does not contribute anything to your 401K. People have “unlimited leave,” but what this really translates into is not taking time off and they don’t have to pay out your leave balance when you leave. Employee turnover is through the roof.

Toxic environment

Pros

Staff feels a sense of solidarity against poor management. Above competitive salaries on some positions. Free lunch on Tuesdays.

Cons

They like to tout that they’re a government contractor but they do not have a single government contract. The CEO and Chief Mission Officer are total shams. Believe the Glassdoor reviews that mention payday lending and Cambridge Analytica. Do your research on each of these men. The Chief Mission Officer likes to say that Torch is “harder to get into than Harvard.” This is a lie. There is constant turnover and churn as people flee to healthier work environments. Working here means you will be sucked into the vortex of toxic manipulation. These leaders have zero respect for their employees, and even less if you are a woman. They will squeeze you like a lemon until you’re out of juice and then throw you away. I have seen both men and women cry on multiple occasions after being screamed at by these leaders during meetings in front of co-workers and client. A small example of the toxicity of this company: To humiliate an employee for having an older car, the CEO bought them a severely beat up car that was headed for the junkyard, and made the entire office come outside to watch as it was delivered. The CEO made a big deal of paying with a wad of cash. The culture here is non-existent. If anything, it’s based on fear, intimidation, and manipulation. So many good people have left. Lured by the promise of equity (the CEO claims that he’s going to make us all millionaires), many of my coworkers are staying just to collect a paycheck for as long as they can. There are no 90-day or annual reviews or even raises. They only give big bonuses to those who agree to play ball with their unscrupulous business practices. You will be asked to promote and post positive messages on social media about the company, to the point of giving you suggested glowing comments for your posts. You’ll even be asked to “like” posts from investors on LinkedIn. The majority of the positive posts for this company on Glassdoor are by upper management. This is not sour grapes. It’s a warning to stay away. This company is circling the drain.

Pros

Always had good bottled water. They always had candy in the candy jar. Bathrooms were readily available, and computer hardware was provided.

Cons

Not a con per se, but the info about the company didn't reflect what was going on in the company. Seems as though there is a lot of good reviews about the company. They didn't have any gym membership plans. Pto was tricky. Meeting rooms were sparse and hard to reserve when you needed some collaboration space. Collaboration space was an interesting mix. The office would get pretty noisy so get headphones.
