Pros

They do offer flexibility in work hours and location. Large knowledge base in the employees that do work here although it is sometimes hard to know who has what experience.

Cons

There is very little training or support for new employees. If you aren’t on a prized project you’ll end up working on that project by yourself even if you should have multiple engineers/resources to support you. The transmission group does some continuing education but it is inconsistent and always online which makes it hard to follow and actually learn from. The management of the group is a lot like the guy in the book “The Ideal Team Player” that they debate on hiring and determine he just wouldn’t fit in because he doesn’t treat those below him very well. I have noticed a huge lack of diversity in the management and employees in general so that doesn’t seem to be a priority for them.

Ensuring that all employees have the tools and resources they need to be successful is important to TRC Companies. We often explore a variety of platforms for training programs in consideration of the diversity we have in both our people and their locations. We recognize that there is always room for improvement and welcome the challenge!

Cons

Political Always in fear of your job lowest pay in the industry no type of job satisfaction prepare to be yelled at and held accountable for others lack of abilities never expect anyone to stand up for you managers are always hiring friends who have been laid off. Bonus is a bucket and is usually given only to a select “few”

Company has misguided priorities.

Pros

Coworkers are great people to work with. There is access to and opportunity to consult with more senior employees who have extensive industry experience.

Cons

Compensation is not up to snuff, for this reason many, many people leave for better pay. Not only is base pay below industry standard, but yearly raises are terrible as well. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, basically everyone get the same raise every year regardless of overtime worked, extra effort put towards projects, individual effort to improve ones utility for the company. There isn't even an incentive structure to better yourself as an employee; you can get a promotion, but wont receive a concurrent raise. No structure currently exists for valuing any position, if you move from a level 1 to a level 2 or 3, etc. you don't get a raise. This has happened to me personally, as well as numerous people I know within the company. Benefits aren't good either, bordering on terrible. There is hostility towards the concept of training employees . Company is unwilling to send employees by and large to training seminars or anything of the sort. Employees are viewed by management in terms of utilization and margins.
