Pros

Starting pay decent for newly graduated engineers. Ok benefits.

Cons

Company seeks best candidates from universities for engineer roles (above 3.5GPA), yet pays them low and overworks them. Head hunter culture. Management known to blame new engineers for plant issues that have existed years before they even started with the company. Being on call, there were many times you are expected to respond to emergencies in the middle of the night on site (no compensation for this). Pay raises small compared with COLA. Promotions range from difficult to impossible for Americans. Company known to bring in workers from Taiwan to spy on American employees and report back to headquarters. Upper management tends to play favorites with Taiwanese workers. Have seen management unfairly discriminate American engineers, while favoring and assisting Taiwanese engineers in the same position (I experienced this myself). Working hard and putting the extra time in to learn as much as possible will not be acknowledged and compensated if your boss doesn’t like you.

Pros

Feel honored to see the company news daily

Cons

(1) Manager shouting at employees is a normal situation (2) Two-faced manager is also normal, difficult to communicate if you're overloaded with jobs, the manager only thinks because you're inefficient (3) No Mistake Culture: if you made 1 mistake, you're reviewed every day, sending you MO (Mistake Operation) or CAP (Corrective Action Plan) (4) It's not about One Team, it's about when there's a mistake, the manager must push this mistake to other departments (5) 12-hour working is normal, it's not just on the news, even if you work on weekends, still can't meet the deadline... (6) If you don't speak English well, you will still be hired because of relationship, they don't care English capability

Pros

Benefits and working for the biggest semiconductor manufacturing company

Cons

There are several significant drawbacks to working for this company. One of the most significant issues is the HR department, which is not very effective. American HR representatives do not have the power to make changes, while the Taiwanese HR representatives are resistant to change and often take the side of their own people. As a result, morale within the company is very low, and employees may feel exploited if the company believes they are vulnerable. The job content assigned to employees is not always what was promised during the interview. For example, an employee may be hired as an engineer but only taught technician-level jobs unless they are Taiwanese. Additionally, the company has recently begun to bully some employees into resigning due to poor performance without proper training. Those who quit are often replaced by Taiwanese locals
