Pros

- the team is top notch and really cares about shipping great products - get to use the latest technology stacks and contribute to them when need be - huge amount of big data and network reach provide for fun engineering problems - office location has view of all of LA and is near many restaurants downtown - interns and new hires get to work on production code - company trajectory and drive is an unbelievable rocket ship - fun to work at (internal hackathons, free food, great people and challenges)

Cons

- large difference in timezones between offices is a bit of a challenge. - being centralized in DTLA means most will have 30-45 min minimum of commute time

Thanks so much for the positive words. The hackathon was fun! Yep, you’re right that time is challenge, but the LA team is sooooo worth it.

Pros

There are a lot of drink options in the fridge

Cons

Taboola has been on a hiring spree this year with most of the US team having been hired just this year. (red flag) However in September 2022 they laid off 6% of the company. The complete lack of foresight planning to hire about 100 new people world wide just to do a mass layoff a couple months later? These are real people with real lives that Taboola is playing with. They really pushed their culture and how great it is but in my experience there is zero culture. I will say its not "toxic culture" if that's better. People keep to themselves in a dimly lit open office. There's no conversations or "cross collaboration" happening anywhere. They even announced they are cutting back millions on marketing and event budgets. So if culture is important to you, it does not exist at Taboola. Finally, product is nothing special, and all competitors offer the same thing. The future is dim here.

Pros

- Good place to learn and develop at an entry level - Cool office - Work life balance (job isn't that hard) - Great if you're trying to chill

Cons

- Compensation is ~50% below market and impossible to renegotiate - No visibility or input into promotion process - Easy to coast, difficult to find new challenges - Incredibly high turnover (90% in 1 year on the team I was hired onto) Company has made a clear decision to prioritize "culture" as in parties, office spending, SKO over investment in HR resources, career pathing, and fair compensation. High turnover is a direct correlation. When I confronted management about this dynamic, I was told that I was correct - under paying and constant employee churn is the company strategy, and that it's been working so far

Thank you for taking the time to write this. Reading negative feedback is never easy, but we appreciate it as it helps us continue to improve. As a practice, we revisit global compensation trends each year to determine salaries. In 2019, a whopping 33% of Taboolars (global) had new roles via promotion, or moving laterally to different teams. Globally, our attrition numbers are below industry average. We value each and every member of our team, and we always maintain open communication on an ongoing basis. We thank you so much for the time you spent with us, and we wish you the best in the future.
