Pros

This company was great, until it wasn't. Fresh out of college, I was able to find a job with TV and gain experience in copywriting, data analytics, and managing client accounts. The benefits were great, as well as the compensation. Unfortunately, that all went south in a matter of less than 6 months.

Cons

TV had mass layoffs (roughly 40%, don't let them lie to you) in the beginning of January. There was absolutely zero notice - managers didn't even know this was coming. Employees were told that layoffs were happening the morning-of during a sudden all-staff Zoom meeting. In this Zoom meeting, employees were told that they would know whether they still had a job within the next few hours. That Zoom meeting lasted approximately 20 minutes. The conversation that was had if you were laid off lasted approximately 15 seconds. Let me be clear. These jobs were NOT cyclical. There are several important things to note regarding the layoffs. First, there are always an abundance of expensive snacks and drinks on each floor (3 total). There were numerous catering events throughout the election cycle. There was also a huge Christmas party (approx. 1 mo before the layoff), where the National Portrait Museum was rented out, and Ubers to and from the party for staff were fully paid for. The thing is, the execs KNEW this layoff was coming. Reducing 40% of your workforce doesn't just come out of nowhere. How about reducing snacks? Reducing benefits? Don't have an extravagant Christmas party? These are basic steps that could (and should) have been taken in order to save some jobs. --- The layoffs were only the tip of the iceberg. The workplace was badly mismanaged, with the hierarchy and roles being unclear. Further, there was a lack of diversity in every sense of the word. Diverse political opinions? Better keep them to yourself. HR was great in this aspect, as they really tried to undo this, but it really requires a top-down approach, with the execs setting the lead. Sexism, racism, homophobia, and just plain ignorance were rampant. These are not terms I use lightly. In all honesty, I would rate this company a 2/5 stars. However, in light of their apparent campaign to inflate reviews, I am giving a 1 star to offset their efforts. I'm not bitter, I am just savvy.
