fast-developing with growing pains unresolved

Pros

- Get to work with smart and intelligent scientists (but they are leaving), - Working location/schedule is flexible if you're not a lab person.

Cons

- Dirty data everywhere!!! The database is enormous but poorly maintained due to fast expansion and lack of head counts. There is no separate team taking charge of data qualities. People working on databases have their hands full with continuous new demands, leaving them no time to do QC work. - Lack of upper management (at least in R&D). Organization structure is unclear. Every department reports to the CEO, who is an expert in business but obviously not an expert in Science and engineering. - Demanding work. Workload got massively increased over this year. You're expected to do work beyond your job duty. Folks are working overtime and over the weekend quite frequently. No work and life balance. - Pays are way below the market. No real incentives (hilarious and insulting bonus). No clear career development. Instead of promoting talented people inside the company, they'd rather hire people outside of the healthcare industry. Good middle management never got promoted (and they are leaving).

looks pretty, but is hollow inside, dirty data and questionable science

Pros

Flashy, nice office space, large company with vibrant energy and sense of purpose

Cons

Data is dirty. Management disorganized. Everyone wants to get in Eric's good lights, please the leader even if it means forfeiting integrity and good science. If you're flashy and like reaching for the limelight, you'll do well here. There is little transparency, lots of black boxes and IP in places where it shouldn't be, making it difficult to account for how data is generated. Leadership knows about serious data flaws, but doesn't take steps to correct. Data continues to be sold to clients regardless of known issues, often with the same patient data being sold over and over to the same clients. Salaries were on the low side, and salary raises were defined mostly by stock units with long vestment periods (and the groupon stories give little confidence on potential value of tempus stocks at the time employees will be allowed to sell!)

Pros

-Free snacks, drinks, on site baristas -Some nice people -Good office/co-working spaces

Cons

-Management does not listen to employee feedback whatsoever -Pay is well below what it should be -CEO acts like a wannabe Steve Jobs but has no vision or morals -Little opportunity for growth -Company uses contract employees so they don’t have to pay them fairly or give them benefits -Given a 3% “raise” after working there for two years
