Pros

Someone is responding to these

Cons

Someone important is seeing employees actively calling out real, serious, OBVIOUS problems, but nobody makes any effort in actually following through and acting. With everyone powerless and afraid to call out their managers or supervisors for obvious laziness, lack of leadership, or neglect of their duties, I wish something would change. Their are so many lazy managers that stay-at-home to hide from any real responsibilities that are happening in the office. So many people are managing their own managers because they do not know about any processes, actions, or problems that actually go on daily in the workplace. It is like they are in La-La Land, and never held accountable for any actions or decisions. It so obvious from an employee stand point that this is going on. My boss is hiring people everywhere to make it so she/he does not need to do anything. It is so obvious and nobody above is noticing. They hide at home and could disappear and no one would ever know they don't do anything, and still get paid a big salary. That's my boss!! "Its the Tempus Way" is a real phrase used everywhere referring to lack of communication, poor management, clueless directives, and lazy management. Ask anybody, and they will say "That's Tempus for ya!" It sucks to care too much sometimes.

Opportunity, but set appropriate expectations

Pros

Tempus has a great story with a clear mission. Hires amazing talent and truly great people. Significant freedom to spent time on personal interest, and generally shape day to day. Personable coworkers, great work life balance with flexible hours and above average pay for the tech side of the house. Enjoyable office (when that matters again). Continued hyperinflation and hiring sprees are starting to show the cracks, but there will always be latest and greatest to explore. Successful pivot to covid testing in 2020 shows the promise of Tempus and was no easy feat. With Lightbank backing, some degree of success is all but assured if you have the patience to deal with the downsides and can deal with the idea of a company this size thinking it can still be run like it has 50 people.

Cons

No 401k match. Your experience will depend entirely on your expectations. If you are beyond entry level, do not expect any room for professional development because there are no clear roles or expectations. Significantly inflated titles for most "managers" with very little outside experience makes itself clear very quickly. Tempus is just doing way too much, way too fast. It's clearly making it up as it goes and there is no long term strategy. Nothing is ever actually complete before being distracted by the next shiny thing. Most initiatives are engineering led meaning there's often little link to any specific business goal. You'll soon tire of chaos for chaos sake and erratic direction. Most days are an exercise in (fake) crisis management without clear lines of decision making or executive boundaries. Over reliance on kudos and compliments on how "genius" everyone is tends to be a sign no one actually knows why what they're doing matters. All this leads to an incredibly jaded workforce.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with all this feedback! We're happy to hear that you’re inspired by the mission, and the coworkers you’re surrounded by. It’s absolutely true that we move very quickly here, and we recognize the need for a focus on professional development and support for managers. We’re putting a lot of thought into addressing that this year, and moving forward, and we hope that this addresses some of the concerns you’ve listed. Our Talent Development team is here if you ever want to discuss offline. The People Ops Team

Pros

-PTO policy is nice, most people are understanding when taking time off

Cons

-Cut out the 3 strike system, it's the worst. I dreaded waiting for my QA scores to come out even though I usually do fine on them. -Stop judging the worth of an employee on how many cases they get done. Quality is better than quantity and the reason why most people don't do so well on QA is that they end up trying to hit the goal which causes them to rush through their work and miss easy points -Align the QA system among all the managers. Every manager has a different way they do things resulting in a reset when employees are shifted through teams. Either align the QA system or keep the teams the same. -The pay is awful. JDA's are criminally underpaid for the amount of work they do. -Training is so much different from actual production -For a tech company the tech/software that we use is pretty bad and crashes way too often. -JDA's are like the shithole of the company. -It's really hard to see if you make an impact as a JDA so if you're looking for a place to make an impact on patient's lives this position is not it -The career growth for this position is essentially non-existent. If you're looking for something to do during your gap year for medical school it's an okay position. If you're trying to start your career this is not it. -The only place for career growth in this company is in the engineering side of the company.
