2016 pay plan cut our pay by at least 30%. They even tried to drop the 15% commission down to 10% in the beginning of the year, making a decent commission almost impossible to obtain. The OSP's banded together and demanded a better comp plan, which corporate eventually gave in to. The revised pay plan is a little bit better, but most of us are still on track to make CONSIDERABLY less this year compared to 2015. sales people are usually motivated to make more money every year.. It was almost comical the way upper management tried to sell us on the new comp plan. As if they didnt cut our pay by about 30%. The sad part is that we are all realizing this as the year comes to an end, and the overall morale of the office is at an all time low. New hires and veterans alike are quitting. I feel bad especially for the new guys who dont even know how bad it is yet.
On top of all of this I think the worst part is the favoritism in the office thats seemingly been going on forever. Its the same 6 people or so who are always at the top because they get 2-3 times more leads than everyone else. they even post the amount of leads everyone gets on the wall lol. Everyone is aware of it and its totally unfair. You have 5 or 6 guys making between 80-120k a year every year while the rest of us are making between 30 and 60. Mind you, a few of these guys are about as sleazy and unethical as they come, and in my opinion most of the other employees deserve their pay checks better. But guess what? management loves those guys, all they care about is the almighty dollar. what they dont realize is that pest control sales is delicate; this is a PEOPLE game, not just a numbers game. Terminix loses so many customers because of that. Fear is also the culture at Terminix, selling to people on fear. Scaring people into buying things they dont need.
The lead flow should absolutely be equal opportunity with everyone getting pretty much the same amount of leads as everyone else. On top of that, I'd say at least 30% of the leads we get are completely ridiculous and set up by some sketchy CSR thats desperately trying to meet their quota as well. Hence why the people who get half the amount of leads are struggling. When we confront management all they have to say is that we're 'not salespeople' if we cant compete with these guys selling 80k worth of products day in day out. Comparing a guy who works in a low income area to the guy whos in Malibu or Hollywood etc. Everyone should get close to the same amount of opportunity, thats how its been at every sales job Ive ever had in the past 10 years or so
