Not a company for everyone.

Pros

Discounts were generous and structure of leadership helped with management a lot.

Cons

Personally my manager based hours on sales. If you sold more you didn't have to work as much because your commission would make up for hours not worked. If your sales were slacking you had to work more days to "get better" at selling. Obviously this isn't the for the company. I left due to the way this worked. I cleaned up the store more than selling because my teammates were lazy so I ended up having to work 6 days a week most weeks since "my sales weren't up to par".

Pros

They offer great benefits and a rewarding commission program that allows you to be competitive and assertive in the workplace. For me, this job was just part-time through college, but it really helped me in my career now as a dental hygienist because of all of the important things I learned about sales and production.

Cons

Downsides to this for me were just the stress of reaching my daily goals so that my pay could be adequate for what I needed through college. If I were unable to reach these goals, I wouldn't get commission, which meant I didn't get paid well. The hourly rate starts out very small because of the commission system and that was my only downfall.

Pros

The discount is great (40% off everything). Working retail enables you to step out of our comfort zone and strike up a conversation with just about anyone. (But you could gain that experience else wear).

Cons

Totally abrasive environment. I feel as if I'm attacking people with clothing. 7 jeans/2 tops per Jean/3 shoes. Recruit every person..buckle cards..loyalty programs.. There's about 20 steps per customer and it's very overwhelming. I have worked retail management for 5 years previously and this is a completely different environment. I wouldn't recommend it. Their competitors are way better to work for. My shifts are 10 hours long with a 30 min break. 55+ hours a week with crap pay.
