Pros

Buckle focuses its attention on growing their top 20%. They do not waste time and money on pushing those who do not meet the attributes of Buckle's "total performer." This is not only great business; it's great mentoring! Buckle shapes its employees to strive for success at Buckle and in life!

Cons

The downsides = You will be judged on your personality, drive, and sociability. Buckle does not think poorly of those who do not meet these standards; they just perfer these people to be their shoppers and friends.

Pros

fun people great clothes personal satisfaction in helping guests

Cons

there is an average sale concept which I do not agree with. Basically if your sale is not over $100 it looks bad like you did not try hard enough. Therefore whenever there was someone who wanted to buy 1 item or a giftcard other teammates would leave the register or ignore them so it would not hurt their average sale. Guests would look irritated that no one would help them which I feel creates a loss in business. I was told by many guests that they do not like to shop there because they feel pressured to buy things they don't want or need. There is constant fighting between teammates about commission which makes it awkward for the guest. I was told I would get 1 weekend a month off which never happened. I would work 45 hr weeks and my DM told me I should be working 60 when I was not making that much money. My DM also gossiped about me to another teammate which I felt was very unprofessional.

Pros

Great discount, overall enjoyable job, 40% discount Regardless of the aspects that I enjoyed in the position, the cons far outweighed the positives

Cons

Higher up management did not communicate and was inconsistent, was expected to work (while salaried) a minimum of 50h hours per week. It was heavily stressed that personal and professional life balance are an important part of the company philosophy, but that is completely untrue for the majority of their district/area/store managers. Get ready to sacrifice holidays, malls add hours, Buckle just roles them into your standard day. In the year I worked at Buckle, I had to choose whether I was going to spend EITHER Thanksgiving OR Christmas with my family. Also, didn't realize how ridiculous I looked wearing fifteen necklaces to match the two watches I was wearing paired with three shirts, two camis, and over the knee socks inside my boots.
