Pros

good pay, growing company, small company feel, good discount. Tons of tools are given to you to help you train and self educate.

Cons

Never heard good job from area manager. I was with the company for about 6 years. Will fire you for any reason, and they do not even let you know why they do so. You are not allowed to have a personal life. If you have an issue or feedback pertaining to you area manager, you are not allowed to file a complaint. We fill out confidential reviews of management, but then the district manager reads them outloud to manager and tells them who said what.

Pros

40% discount flexible hours most employees are in college, no teenagers working there comfortable clothes for work competent management as far as I can tell advancement opportunities

Cons

clothes are high quality but expensive low base pay (starts at $4.75/hr) plus 3% commission employees are pushed to constantly sell stuff the client doesn't really want demeaning team leaders staying late after hours to clean the store or before it opens at a low hourly rate The worst part about the Buckle is having to constantly push sales and pursue the customer. What's worse is as soon as you turn your back to get the customer another size, another employee tries to steal the sale. Customers get easily annoyed when more and more merchandise is brought to them, especially when they came to buy jeans and are shown numerous tops and shoes. If a customer is "young, cute and fashionable" employees are supposed to recruit them to work at the Buckle. The rationale is that there is high turnover among the part-timers, and even when people quit, they fall in love with the product and remain customers. Interviews are very personal and not professional. I was asked about my marital status, kids, etc. before I was asked about my experience or education. Interviews are done on the sales floor.
