Pros

Awesome place to get experience. very structured 10-12 week program. There were only two interns in the location i was at so we received a lot of attention. The training was great and learning the product knowledge is fun and interesting. Pay is great plus a commission, i ended up with $14/hour on my good weeks! I loved learning about the inventory, scheduling, working as a team and being a leader simultaneously.

Cons

Sometimes you help some one for 45 minutes or just spend a lot of time with them and they buy nothing, or just sales are slow some days and it is always your fault according to Buckle. When really lots of people shop with the mind set they will spend or not spend, and you cant control it, some days you just get all the wrong people and it is tuff taking the blame and having to explain why it was your own fault when u showed every product category, serviced at fitting room, explained services, sometimes it just seemed a little unrealistic. Lots of product in the store and a lot of straightening near end of night, only like an hour though, we never have to stay very late. All in all it was a great place to work and I really enjoyed it.

Not A Good Place!

Pros

One of the best reasons is that you work commission so you have alot of potential to earn money. Second, is that it is a fun job that allows you to meet alot of people. Third, the discount is great.

Cons

The biggest con is the poor management. My manger expected employees to practically give up their personal life! I worked in a college town and she only allowed employees off two home games out of eight and if you did get a game off you usuually had to work a morning shift. Second, my manager did not treat their employees very fairly. Favorites worked more hours and the better shifts, reguardless of performance. Also, my manager had no business sense! She would have eight people working on a slow day so everyone would have really low sales. We weren't even meeting our LY for last year. Last, she developed really bad attitudes. When a couple of us turned in our two weeks notices, she started getting onto us for little things when others were making bigger mistakes. She also cut our pay and stripped us of responsibilities Beware of this job, starts of great but looses their luster quickley.

Pros

I was able to be around a variety of different guests every day & it was fun to help them make outfits. I learned more about sales/selling than ever before. They also teach how to visual merchandise and have an action plan for "add-on's" with guests which makes the sales process easier. The discount was amazing as well!

Cons

Maybe it was just my story, but the atmosphere was very negative and hostile towards upper management. My manager also "over-managed" teammates to the point where she was a nag. Loss prevention situations were not fun either. Also, in my store my manager was very strict about our image and would review us if we were wearing too much or too little make-up or if she personally did not like our outfit. A couple of my teammates would steal sales as well; and when everyone is on commission, it was very frustrating. I think -- HOPE -- a lot of the problems were specific to my store.
