-The products aren't where they need to be in terms of promised features, AND prices are far above industry average. They charge a premium price for non-premium products. Sales, support, marketing, and CS are all fighting an uphill battle as a result, customers are resentful, and the product team is in a constant state of defensiveness.
-Below average pay. Over the years, I held multiple positions at CBORD, and all of them paid below the going rate. Plenty of folks are asked to go above and beyond their job description without being rewarded for it. (Bonus: there's an emerging "do more with less" mindset, which sounds cool but really just means "We're cutting jobs, so get ready to do the work of 2 people with no additional compensation. Your sacrifice is invaluable...to the sales team's annual trip to Jamaica.")
-Manager quality is highly variable. Some of my managers were true mentors and advocates for my growth. Others ranged from antisocial dictators to so hands-off that there was a noticeable disconnect with the team. Senior leadership tends to deflect or play dumb when asked difficult questions, and HR is a textbook case of being there to protect the company, not the employees.
-Bad leaders are retained too long. Example: one manager had their entire team quit en masse, had poor relations with other teams, was eventually promoted to a high-up role, and still works at CBORD today. Long tenure tends to get mistaken for good performance.
