Pros

Geo is a large organization and there appeared to be good room for advancement within ISAP. Management for the ISAP program is very good. Good benefits, while I worked there they since they had pay and benefits under Service Contract Act .

Cons

The ISAP program seemed too far apart from GEO. Although advancement within the ISAP program seemed possible, advancement within GEO did not.

Pros

Pay was good, benefits are decent, some of the people are good to work with, great work/life balance.

Cons

Corporate run environment, not a lot of room for advancement, team work was not great depending on the facility you were at, corporate believes EVERYONE is replaceable.

Pros

I had a blast working as a Correctional Officer at GEO. The pay was great for the area. You did not have to have a degree. The job was really easy as long as you actually did your job thoroughly. There wasn't much you had to do. The hardest part was staying awake while working the graveyard shift. It was important to keep the security and safety of the detainees and staff in your mind at all times.

Cons

Like any job, you may have some supervisors that don't know how to speak to you but if you stayed positive it is pretty easy to deal with them. There are also some supervisors that are lazy. You will not have a life away from work, that I'd almost a guarantee. Too much mandatory overtime!
