Management plays favorites to an extreme degree; does next to nothing to discourage rumors, gossiping, laziness, and poor quality work.
Corporate has no control over individual franchisees. They always seem to know when QA is coming for an inspection, so they quickly hide everything that wouldn't meet standards and BS their way through the day.
Owners and management line their own pockets by cutting corners everywhere possible. Low quality snack foods that would enrage parents to know that their children were eating Goldfish crackers a minimum of 4 times a week. While post preschools order toys from an educational catalog, these come straight from the local Goodwill.
Teachers are understaffed, overworked, and underpaid. No time is allotted for lesson plans; you end up taking your work home. Most assistant teachers have little to no experience in childcare. Salary is pitifully small compared to other schools; benefits are almost none existent.
Teachers are discouraged from saying anything to the parents about children's negative behaviors, and instead have to struggle with it quietly so the parents have the impression that it's all sunshine and roses down at the Goddard School.
"Learning areas" are ridiculous fluff to impress parents on tours. Not enough focus or materials given to basic educational building blocks like numbers, letters, and social skills.
Centers are more interested in giving the right "look" with classroom decoration than with quality learning.
