Pros

Better benefits are offered as the years you work go on and stock is also available at really low prices. Flexible hours are available and even like that you can move up to a manager or DH position. Every six months you will get a raise ranging from 50 cents to $1.00.

Cons

Managers have their favorite associates and will fire people that actually work. You always have to watch your back since its a free for all when it comes to moving up the ladder. You have to start in the very bottom to make it to the top.. At least 10 years to become a store manager and a college degree.

Pros

The culture that THD (at least) puts forth is admirable. Do the right thing, take care of your people, all good stuff. The obvious pro is that Home Depot is one of the safest choices you could make, as they're here to stay.

Cons

I honestly feel duped. My technically oriented team that is mostly out-of-state worked remotely, and I dreamt of continuing to build my career here, but the RTO mandate has stripped that away. Even if we do relocate to Atlanta, Home Depot will not cover moving expenses and would not even improve salary post inflation. We have had record breaking years and some of the best sales days in history, to be punished in this way. And even if I do stay, the extent to which management caters to upper leadership's fear of change trumps any spark for real innovation, and our self development is drowned.

Pros

Nothing, sweat shop, politics, favoritism

Cons

It was the worst decision of the career to join Home Depot as Software Engineer. The technical leadership here is bully and would use all means to pressurize you. There is clear favoritism in promotions and growth in the team, seen people promoted based on loyalty and not based on what value they add to the team. As a result you will see many incompetent, undeserving people up in the hierarchy. The misery does not stop here, if you raise concern against these issues, then you are painted as villain across the org making sure that your movement across teams is stopped, so you basically are stuck in a team.
