Pros

Work and life balance was good. Work 40 hours, go home. No overtime. or crazy hours asked of you to work. Good people working in my department.

Cons

What can I say about The Mine that has not already been said. Lower pay than market average across all departments and positions. (Sales, Cust. Service, IT, Development, Etc.) by as much as 33%. Gas-lighting from management. It seems that when I was working at The Mine management was trying everything they could to keep their butts out of hot water with Lowe's corporate. This lead to them gas-lighting employees on compensation raises and the time tables they would be under. (because the business was failing). Even the general health of the business was gas-lighted to employees until lay offs happened in March of 2017. Cliques: This was probably the biggest warning sign for me when I first started at The Mine. There were cliques that formed between teams, departments, and management levels that were very evident. Talking behind other team members backs was common place, and the whole culture of the business gave you the feeling you were back in high school with all the unnecessary drama.

Pros

Great people; flexible hours to an extent; good benefits of health insurance and 401k; work/life balance is strong with this company.

Cons

The pay used to be a larger con than it is now in 2017, but it still is on the low end of the average in many respects when compared to other companies. The structure for career advancement has much to be desired and is one of the most notable failures of the company. However, given the 'pros' that I mentioned, many do not mind the lower pay and see this as a company they can work for in their future given the tradeoff. At the end of the day though, living in the greater Seattle area, you're going to need more money given the cost of living.
