Pros

The equity and justice team as well as the BIPOC staff in the organization are the only pro this organization has to offer.

Cons

LONG BUT WORTH THE READ. This organization claims to be progressive, but in retrospect, it is just another metric-driven, profit-hungry organization. Your organizers and directors work as though they work in an Amazon factory (an organizer has made that comparison). I have seen organizers get emotional about missing metrics, have anxiety attacks on-site (myself included), and think less of themselves because they miss metrics that day. This is highly unsettling since the company applauds itself on company culture. Let's speak about pay. As a company, you all stand with pride promising to pay individuals what they are worth, again, silly. This company is just a tad over the bare minimum compared to what you expect organizers and directors to do. I have worked ten-hour days at times, so let's break that down. Ten-hour days mean that I am working well over 40 hours a week to save face, 55 hours a week. Roughly, I am making $18-19 an hour. Now, let's look at the company's BIPOC retention rate, which is disgusting. I genuinely do not know how this company has held onto the spectacular BIPOC staff thus far, but I digress. Let me make one thing very clear; this company has survived off the backs of its BIPOC staff. That's it. Also, this organization claims to offer growth opportunities, that’s another lie. You will leave this organization feeling as though you’ve put more in than you got out.

Pros

Opportunities to grow, encouraging and resourceful leadership that tries to live up to Equity and Justice values. Company invests money and time to emphasis importance of recognizing biases (racial, class, gender, etc) and training staff to recruit based on overcoming those biases. Leadership is accountable, can be hilarious sometimes, and human (warts and all).

Cons

Its 100% remote work, can be lonely or tedious but leadership encourages creativity and allows time for coworkers to get to know each other.

Hi, thanks so much for writing a review. I'm glad you've enjoyed your time on the recruitment team (and thanks for your work). I agree that remote work can be lonely at times, hopefully we can get an in person training together soon!
