Pros

The people, the people, the people! The Seattle office grew significantly while I was there and everyone that came though those doors was passionate about human rights. The local leadership is excellent. There are a lot of leadership opportunities within the local office. Benefits(health insurance, PTO, Sick time). There is a bonus structure to reward success. I was able to even attend a training in DC paid for by the company. Best of all, you get to make a difference!

Cons

A lot of attrition, canvassing is hard work and its easy to get burnt out. The pay, even for leadership wasn't low but wasn't exceptional either. There is another group in Seattle that pays significantly more. With that said, the Seattle TOT office just bumped their pay for canvassers from $15 to $17/hour plus bonuses. There are few leadership opportunities beyond canvass director if you are tied down to Seattle. (Better if you are single or don't have a family.)

Pros

They’re friendly and check on employees well being often

Cons

Where to begin… they have very high expectations, but do not provide necessary accommodations in terms of work locations & organization in order to meet their very high and unrealistic quotas. They give employees very little time to adapt to working conditions & terminate employees very quickly even when they’re showing clear improvement & strong effort. If you’re working for them, be aware that there is no leeway when it comes to not reaching their requirements and they’ll even give you good feedback but then turn around and fire you the next day. This is a very temporary job with a high amount of people coming and going because they are not realistic about what can actually be achieved.

Pros

-Pay is fair and hours are quite flexible. -Job is fulfilling, and does have important causes.

Cons

-Higher ups have zero clue on the areas they work in. -Weak leadership, feels like the bottom line is more important than anything else. -Typically temporary jobs. -Leadership does not listen to canvassers that are doing the actual work.
