Pros

Great place to launch your career as a developer or PM in Agile. Working with highly intelligent co-workers is a treat. If you are a developer, there is an immediate bias towards you and your value to the organization.

Cons

Heavy, heavy travel. Often traveling weekends or Friday nights on your own time. Poor relative pay. Executive management are too junior, often promoted from developer/pm with no corporate leadership experience. This yielded shocking mistakes in leadership and sharp staff attrition rates. I wouldn't go back. You can make more money through local consulting companies and no travel. My advice? Look elsewhere.

We hear you about travel - it's a hot topic all across our industry. As a software consultancy, we believe it's essential to work side-by-side with clients but we know it can be tough! We've recently introduced a new Global Travel Program to reduce the demands of travel and improve things like flexibility, convenience, comfort, and choice for travelers. If you're reading this and considering applying to ThoughtWorks, please feel free to ask us about our Global Travel Program! Thank you! Joanna Parke, Chief Talent Officer

Pros

- There are only a few other consulting companies where you will find your niche irrespective of your level of experience - Highly collaborative teammates - Excellent leadership communication - doesn't matter if the news is good or bad - Lots of young enthusiastic and smart folks - If you don't like a client or a project, you have the ability to walk away which is awesome - Personal Dev Budget is great - Learning is everyone's middle name - Dogmatic about the ceremonies and processes (both a pro and a con)

Cons

- Sometimes the more tenured ThoughtWorkers have a NIMBY attitude, but most of them open to their required reeducation - Lack of hierarchy is great, but I find that most ThoughtWorkers respond to those with titles (which is the same as everywhere else). So what's the point? - Luminaries, and there are quite a few here, are somehow listened to more than those with practical experiences - Growing too fast without hierarchy means lack of support for most members of the organization. More junior folks haven't seen the best of class - Horrible insurance choices
