Pros

Money. Free food. Money. Did I mention the money?

Cons

-Mandatory meetings with XFN partners, 90% of which are in China, which means late night meetings all week long (as late at 10PM or 11PM PST) -If you have a family, you will not have dinner with them during your time at the company due to evening meetings -You're expected to work crazy hours, weekends, and even holidays (seriously, the day before Christmas a message will go out letting people know that the office will be open for "anyone who wants to come in" #winkwink) -Speaking of, they're stingy with company holidays, for example, you don't get the day after Thanksgiving off -The attitude towards design is just SHIP, SHIP, SHIP regardless of quality -It is a Chinese company, and not just a Chinese-owned company; this means that the people and the culture are almost 100% Chinese; so if you're not Chinese, you'll feel left out not to mention if you're not used to working according to the rules of Chinese culture (meaning working long hourss and holidays) you're going to A. be out of step and B. look like a shirker because, you know, you want to spend some time with your family

Pros

-Compensation is competitive with other FAANG companies -Great benefits (not PTO though, PTO offering is terrible) - Peers are some of the most intelligent and caring folks in the industry - Office space is pretty

Cons

- No work life balance, you will be working 80+ hours a week in an "always on" culture. 996 working hours are the minimum - PTO is also some of the lowest compared to competitors, not that it matters as you work through your PTO - Leadership lacks well-defined vision and is constantly in a state of reactivity, making execution against any sort of strategy a massive uphill battle - Constant pivoting, ever-evolving chaos - Everything is "urgent" - Teams are super understaffed and there is a revolving door with talent - Management plays favorites, only way to be recognized is to be their pet - New performance standards seem to be largely subjective. Top performers are getting low scores, PIPs and laid off - Management's expectations are far out of touch with reality and the goal post shifts constantly. ByteDance sets expectations for the US-based TikTok team based on Chinese market performance and corporate culture - Onsite meal service has been getting people sick - Unclear if the company and app will be banned, no one has any sense of job security - High rate of stress and burnout, people are crying at work or looking like they are on the verge of tears. Tons of people on leave due to the stress, which causes further pressure on understaffed teams

Pros

- very good health benefits (including fertility support)

Cons

- outrageous goals that are impossible to hit. other than the biggest accounts, most teams are very lean and stretched too thin to be strategic, long-term sellers - many docs are in chinese and difficult to have exact 1:1 english translation - mandatory in office (heart of times square) - never any call rooms or conference rooms available - you will not get a promotion within <2 years - performance review system is sketchy and unpredictable - every-changing company goals (quarter over quarter they are drastically different)
