TikTok's great for the short term - but not for the long
Pros
- Product is best in class and our users love our platform - Fast growing company with lots of opportunity to grow - Great people and fun office culture (especially in Los Angeles)
Cons
- Many of my colleagues have gone 2-3 years without a single level change promotion. The company has focused on hiring so widely - that they seriously have neglected on promoting the workforce they currently have. Join in the short term and get as many title promotions as you can (promotions to new roles with no change in pay) - but plan to leave in the long term especially if you are receiving zero level promotions - Biden banned TikTok, but now that he's dropped out of the race and we still have lawsuits that haven't been reviewed in court - we may have a chance, but it definitely sucks to be at a company that's been banned in this job market - I pray we make it out, but it's certainly a conn - TikTok is a multinational American company, but it's parent company ByteDance does influence our values which are very different from Silicon Valley tech companies at times - Culture is a weird blend between Amazon and Google - org is very performance driven with very little perks, but at the same time some offices like San Jose have insane perks like free buffets like Google does
