Pros

I was lucky enough to kind of randomly find an opportunity as a Sales Associate with Toast. Any BDR work is not glamorous but the people and management more than make up for that. There is truly a great deal of upward mobility available to those that work for it. In 7 months I have been promoted to an Account Executive position which comes with a handsome pay increase in the city that I requested. I have been fortunate enough to receive coaching and mentorship from others at Toast and those lessons will be extremely valuable as my career progresses. I feel very lucky to work for such a great company like Toast and feel that the feeling is mutual

Cons

I think there could be some higher expectations of performance

Thanks for sharing this! Seeing Toasters grow in their sales careers is definitely one of the highlights of my job. I’m happy to hear that the coaching and support from others has been so impactful. I also appreciate the advice that you shared. Now that we’ve rolled out our updated values, we’ve been thinking a lot about how to incorporate them into performance reviews and promotions. That’s such a great call out. I really appreciate this feedback, and I’m excited to see you excel in your new role! - Adam Mavrikos, VP Sales

Pros

The culture at Toast is amazing. Very inclusive, hard working and fun!. Pay is great (base + commission, and a lot of opportunity for bonuses). They go out of their way to congratulate success and they truly care about the impact they're making in the restaurant/hospitality industries.

Cons

Toast has been and is in a hyper growth state, which is great and they're doing fantastic things, but you still feel a bit of the growing pains. As a sales rep, hitting your quota is everything and the most important thing to District Managers and up. And as an outside rep, you sometimes feel disconnected to the company and your peers.

I love what you shared here, and I echo this sentiment! There is nothing better than celebrating wins together! I also hear you on the pains of hypergrowth. I, along with the rest of sales leadership, are deeply committed to making Toast a supportive and inclusive workplace for everyone, including our remote employees. - Jonathan Vassil, GM of SMB

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I’m sorry to hear that your experience has been less than stellar. The freedom and flexibility with scheduling is definitely one of the biggest perks of being a sales rep, so I’m disappointed to hear that you’re feeling micromanaged. I hear you on the heavy meeting culture- this is something that we’re actively working on. If you have any suggestions for making the remote experience better, I would love to hear them. You can reach out to me directly via Slack, email or OfficeVibe. - Jonathan Vassil, SVP Sales
