Pros

They offer stock options if you can afford it.

Cons

Little to no room for growth. They offer bonuses based on the sales of the professional that you work for but that doesn't make up for the low wages and high expectations of performance.

Pros

Good way to learn more about apparel fit, good starter job in office environment, very flexible, nice people. Lots to learn

Cons

Hours can be inconsistent. Don't always offer full time. Pay could be better. Your experience will depend on who you are assisting.

Our opportunity, which is more entrepreneurial in nature than most, does have its share of hard work and long hours at certain times and seasons, especially when starting out. It is great that you were able to persevere and build your business.

Pros

You look like you make money

Cons

This company is stuck in an older era, where making 85 phone calls a day (the expectation) will lead you to a fruitful life. It is a very small percentage of people who last longer than 3 years due to the fact that after the (admit-ably decent training) you can go elsewhere and make so much more money, inclusive of a base pay. You are expected to schlep around the city hauling people’s clothing in all of the elements, only to get stood up 50% of the time. Clothing is rarely if ever people’s priority of the day so you’re always on the back burner. Once you do establish a book of business you are essentially forced into hiring (babysitting) a new person right out of college who takes up all of your time, then they will quit if you don’t quit first. Then it’s a massive rinse and repeat cycle. Tens of thousands of people have started a career at Tom James but their sales force has never been more than 600. Do not buy into their long term wealth building strategy of buying their stock. You’re better off investing elsewhere. They recently decreased the per unit pay which was already a joke for how much work you have to put in.

Our opportunity, which is more entrepreneurial in nature than most, does have its share of hard work and long hours at certain times and seasons, especially when starting out. It is great that you were able to persevere and build your business up to the level of achieving our trips. There are just one thing we would like to point out from a factual standpoint just for a balanced understanding on a few topics: We do not force anyone into leadership, period. Of our 450 person sales force, approximately 200 are in some form of leadership and 250 are not. While our leadership opportunity is a great career path, it is not for everyone. Our desire is for each Sales Professional to take from the overall opportunity the parts that resonate with them and build in that direction. Outside of that clarification, again, we are thankful for the review and wish you all the best in your next endeavor!
