Pros

1. Develop your personal characteristic traits 2. Clarify where you want to be in life financially

Cons

1. If you do not fit into their mold for success you will likely be unhappy in the long run. 2. After leaving I found out they (upper management) only expects new people to remain at Tom James for 2-3 years. 3. One of the most concerning things is at the very beginning they expect you to plug your personal phone into their system. They then have full access to everything (personal contacts) on your phone. If you try to leave they will claim those contacts are Tom James property and that they have to wipe your phone. 4. No work-life balance. They will say it is up to you, however, the culture they promote expects you to work evenings, weekends, and most holidays.

Pros

The money was great. As a newly graduated student, I was able to make money and fast. Tom James gives you an amazing sales experience that I wouldn't change for the world. I have many friends who still work here and I love the company feeling of family you get from some people here!

Cons

If you enjoy early mornings (6AM in the office),late nights (11PM or later), working weekends, going on appointments to get harassed, have you "leader" make you cry because he messed something up and put the blame on you, feeling like your apart of a pyramid scheme, being told that having friends outside of Tom James is going to hurt you, having a leader and team that complete disregards the rules and lacks teaching skills then by all means this job is for you.

Pros

gave me sales experience so I could move on

Cons

-they don't reimburse you for ANYTHING... you drive all over the place in your own car and they don't pay for any of your gas or reimburse for any parking. Plenty of the clients you will go to see live in tall office buildings that charge $5-$10 an hour to be there. Believe me, it adds up quickly when they expect you to have 5 appointments a day. -if you take a look at their website it says 83% retention rate. I know for a fact that is a lie. Everyone quits. -It also says Top New Partners with their impressive stats.... not one of those partners are new. and the $500,000 numbers you see there are not their salaries which it initially is meant to look like. Those numbers are the retail amount they sold. -You don't have any vacation or sick days. -They expect you to be at two meetings a year each a week long.... so don't expect to get paid for being there since it's 100% commission. -We had to use our office's bonus to pay for a sign outside of the building.... shouldn't that be expected of a company to pay for? -The sales reps had to use our own money to give the office employees (receptionist, tailors, etc.) a Christmas bonus. As much as I would love to give them more money I was broke myself and that should also fall under the company to pay out bonuses. -At training they kept saying you just need to know how to sell and keep a positive attitude (yes, important, BUT) They went over how to measure someone for a suit in about 2 hours of the entire week. I knew nothing about suits and their details yet I was selling them for thousands of dollars and then they would come out horrible and ill-fitting and they tell you to take the blame for all mistakes even if it was the factory. They tell you this so that when you quit the client will work with another rep because those mistakes were you not the company.
