Pros

TOTAL is a good international company offering opportunities in many countries with a good sense of diversity and the possibility to change internally between jobs and places.

Cons

the fact that Total has headquarters in France could be viewed perhaps by the international employees as an handicap due to a weak job market in this country

Pros

Good benefits, work environment, looks good on paper

Cons

lack of "real" leadership, most of management positions are assigned to expats who rotate every 3 years so no continuity, lack of growth opportunities within organization, no clear direction, one project company.

Pros

- Benefits are good if you manage to use them - Expat opportunities if you REALLY want to leave the country you are currently in

Cons

- extremely demanding work hours and strong pressures from management (the works were mostly caused by the disorganization or lack of communication of sr management) - Local Canadian beware! You will be expected to work the same hours as the expat (but without the benefits); extremely long hours and it's not common to have meeting starting at 5 pm or 6 pm (without any advance notice) - expat opportunities are available BECAUSE the company needs you to be in those places. Chances are these places/countries are dangerous or unstable and if you turn it down enough times, there is a good chance you will not go anywhere in the company or even get fired....... (don't think this applies to the Canadians yet, but this is the corporate policy regarding expat assignments) - lack of communication or cooperation between departments and non-management staff are always stuck in the middle of the power struggles - HR policies might seem to support work life balance, but it certainly has NOT been encouraged by management **There are a lot of other opportunities available in Calgary with other O&G companies while you can still spend time with your family and friends**
