Pros

Managers are scheduled 9.5 hours. Managers are also paid hourly, so working retail, this is good. You are paid time and a half for work. The downside of hourly work is that in California there are meal violation laws. As a manager, it can be very difficult to pull away from tasks. Also, TRU is hiring! Leaders recognize that the only way that they remain competitive in retail, is to hire good leaders. The company seems to be very open to new suggestions to improve store performance. Marketing is good. Parents are able to save a lot of money with the many coupons.

Cons

benefits are minimal. The benefits do not offer orthodontic coverage for adult employees. Adult meaning anyone over the age of 19,major internal restructuring, sick time reimbursement does not benefit employees. Also, TRU is hiring! Pros

Good money for the part time job it pays for high school students. You get to work with a variety of people both young and old. Also, you get a nice employee discount and you get to play with toys here and there. Apart from that, there's nothing much more to say.

Cons

Christmas season, you work til around 2am. Closing the store and doing inventory was the worst part of the job. The managers don't really have any sort of training program in place. It's learn as you go. Promotions are solely dependent on how much brown nosing you can do in a week.

Pros

Discount for employees just barely worth it.

Cons

Lack of respect from the top to bottom. Far too many staff members tend to talk down on their " equal" co-workers. No one seems to know or care if you are there to hang out and bs all day. But if you don't, beware because they will come down on you like a brick house if you actually do you job smoothly. They like to throw all kinds of orders at staff just because they have a souped up name tag. They don't seem to not recognize a person that can function and do their job without feeling that they must tell you 3 times even if you are in the middle of doing exactly that task.
