Pros

Great company values and mission, OK benefits, OK 401k, nothing super outstanding.

Cons

Top down management with unrealistic expectations. If you're salaried you're "expected" to work 50 hours/week or MORE. This is told to you, so expect to hear this a lot. You'll be directed to work late or weekends. NO work/life balance even though it is part of their values. They push "development" but do not allow people to participate in training because the team is "always constrained." Development is also part of their values but there is no follow-through. There is no plan in place to cross-train people for when something happens and people are out on leave or unexpectedly get sick. Everything is very slow moving - there is no push for anything! Not open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. I feel like teams are dysfunctional and if you are not brown-nosing, you're not going anywhere.

Pros

Fun store, good products that attract down to earth customers. Not difficult to learn the job.

Cons

Management is ridiculous with their rules and blame for failing grades on reports and audits that associates and Team Leads have no control over. Payroll budget has been cut so much that we are forced to run the store with 2 people. Not only is it unsafe, but causes us to give horrible customer service. Corporate doesn't visit the stores, but threatens to on a regular basis. They don't because they aren't about to face their disgruntled employee's. I have watched my manager slowly lose his mind over the last year, because of all the negative changes corporate has made. I've begged him to move on, but he insists these changes are temporary. Ha! Me and 3 other associates gave our notice in the last 10 days. 2 of them opened the store new. It is a crisis and somebody better take notice.

Pros

TSC has a great culture and fantastic values. Every single employee is eligible for the bonus program.

Cons

It does not appear to be easy to move up in the company. Bonuses are not the greatest unless you are a manager or above. My particular department keeps hiring based on experience instead of character so we keep having a high turnover rate.
