Pros

No shortage of work so days can go by quickly. Build relationships with vendors and customers, especially the regulars. Employee discounts on most things. Capable of earning pay bonus if the store makes a certain sales plan goal. Educational training provided consistently through out season. Good mission and values. Job security. Health, stock, and retirement benefits. Friendly and family work environment feeling.

Cons

TSC is a reports and numbers chasing game for management and upper management, nothing else matters as long as those numbers are met. Stores can be dysfunctional and still meet those numbers, yet that is ok. There is constant micromanaging (Did you check that off the HUB?). Thin scheduling (especially weekends) makes rush hours chaotic, especially when often understaffed or training new hires. Scheduling is only done 2 weeks out in advance and for such a small staff, it shouldn't be the issues it always seems to be. Store scheduling seems to be based off the previous years’ sales plan which is irrelevant if you out perform or under perform as a store. Managers take advantage of their position and are often under-qualified for their job. Hours are padded for favorites allowed to come in late but don't make up the extra time. Managers belittle subordinates in front of customers and behind scenes. Sexual harassment slang terms are thrown around jokingly by store leaders accompanied by other inappropriate remarks . Store supply runs to get change, fuel, and 'servicing customers equipment' are often spent much longer than it should be by managers, leaving higher workload for team. Workload is not evenly distributed among team which leaves most of the work to those few with the strongest work ethic on a regular basis. No accountability, usually and always a blame game. Company equipment is used for personal gain while on the clock. Managers have side jobs that conflict with store operations. Restrooms are not maintained and are disgusting. They are supposed to be cleaned nightly, but in reality it's more like bi-weekly. The busiest time of year and sales plan is either too high to hit or not enough people are scheduled to cover the floor. Don't let them use this as an excuse to not get your desired pay upon interview. Overtime is a unicorn so don't expect to get any extra hours over 40/week. Other stores are not as welcoming as you would often hope for when arriving for training purposes. Constant item resets for marketing strategy but frustrates customers. Required to lift much heavier items than the required 50 lbs. TSC doesn't always observe all major holidays (New Years Eve/Day, Independence Day etc. AND lastly, you cannot be terminated from TSC unless you use profane language toward any customer or theft from the company, leaving write-ups and insubordination as a endless and frustrating loop.
