Pros

I was a cashier for Tractor Supply for 3 years, mostly during high school. Had a great manager and a great team. We all got along and was really sad when I left.

Cons

Have you ever watched Office Space? where the corporate honchos showed up and were completely disconnected from reality? That was the feeling we all got from those in corporate. It felt like it was front line workers vs. corporate all the time. Even the regional managers seemed to be disconnected from how to run a business. They would require our manager to cut back on hours and save on payroll during our busiest time of the year, resulting in him working 70-75 hour weeks. He was probably one of the best managers I have ever had, and it was very frustrating to see him treated so badly. He finally left, as did many other general managers within the company I now hear.

Pros

Interesting customers, good products, love the dogs that come into the store. It's a paycheck when I get enough hours to pay basic bills. They work with employees to accommodate scheduling around other time commitments, like school or another part time job.

Cons

Hours are tailored by the automatic scheduling system to keep you on average under 20 hours a week. The last couple years big focus on sales goals: hard selling credit cards, item of the month, those "extended warantees". And they want the cashier to turn 180 degrees to greet each customer that comes in the door, while cashiering, pushing sales goals, and answering incoming phone calls. Customers are mostly retired men, farmers, blue collar workers and pet owners. Current manager has a boys club running, where they yuk it up while the womenfolk are working their butts off making stuff happen.

Pros

Growing company, specific market niche, good employees, great location in Brentwood, TN

Cons

Cons are specific to role and team you are on. Supply chain and inventory teams seem to have high turnover, lofty expectations defined as "organized chaos", requires minimum 60 hours a week to get job done, team is skeleton crew.
