Pros

Great colleagues! Interesting industry to work in Empowerment to work independently Learning curve is steep Travel opportunities Not much micromanaging

Cons

Title says it all! CEO sends out regular emails raving about record breaking revenues, extraordinary financial growth! BUT only a tiny portion of it goes to the employees (very pyramid like structure where the management earns the bulk of money whilst the rest of us are at the bottom pulling long hours) Benefits are practically non existent.. mediocre insurance coverage. Ineffective HR, Ops and Marcoms who couldn’t care less about welfare, instead, focusing on costs as priority. It’s a joke how little this company spend on their employees (except the fancy sales conferences which they spend a bomb on). Needless to say, millions of dollars were spent on an embarrassingly immature legal battle. If those millions were distributed to the few thousand employees, it would have been a much better investment. Company prides itself as an industry leader with great technological solutions but it’s truly operating in an old fashioned manner.

Pros

The people are wonderful, and everyone is committed to the job. You get to work with people from all over the world. The company has offices in the top locations of every country it inhabits, and PMs can work out of these offices.

Cons

It becomes clear pretty early on, that this company hires mainly college grads who don't know they should expect respect, boundaries, and perks from the job. Employees are paid insultingly low salaries, and are expected to pay translators the same level of meager wages. The hours are terrible - 9 to 6 is the signed contract, but there are days you'll come in at 8:30 and won't leave til 9. You're on salary, so you don't get compensated for this, but the job needs to get done. There's always more work than can be handled, because the processes are archaically bad. Technologies are not properly utilized here to make things more efficient. TransPerfect runs a tight ship, and with the low salaries and extremely stressful conditions, there is extremely high turnover. This makes it even harder on the employees that stick around. There are many stories of people sleeping at the office on occasion, and offices "imploding" because all of the PMs quit at once. I could go on and on, but that's enough for now. Spare yourself the stress, and don't work here.

Pros

For a PM, every day is different and you can learn a lot about the business and different types of projects.

Cons

Really bad paid, they negotiate you down for your minimum and have nice sentences in the contract like that you do 20h overtime per month for free. In general, overtime is not compensated but needed in order to get your work done. Working hours are not flexible, same goes for time off, can get hard to get this if your boss also wants to be away the same time.
