Pros

Fantastic Growth Opportunities - you get out what you put in, working hard leads to quick advancement. Responsibility - for someone of my age, I have a huge amount of responsibility and TransPerfect trusts me in this role. Most of the workforce is young (under 35) and this means the atmosphere is amazing. Colleagues become family - my best friends work with me here, I've been here over 5 years and have met almost all the sales team globally, we have a great team. TransPerfect is built on it's people, and they are fantastic.

Cons

As I say, you get out what you put in - that means a lot of hard work, long hours, weekends and evening etc. But you are rewarded for this.

Pros

- Meritocracy: This is a place where your personal contribution to your team and to the organization are valued and rewarded. If you work hard, and you achieve, you will be rewarded. There is no "glass ceiling" where you can't move ahead because someone else is there. - Corporate Culture: It is an overall very young organization, making it a fun environment to work in, filled with other individuals who are interested in working hard, playing hard and being high achievers. - Responsibility/Ownership: I started at TransPerfect in the most entry level sales role, and immediately was given more personal responsibility and ownership of important clients and projects that I would ever expect as a 23 year old. For me - this was amazing and I rose to the occasion by seeing it as an opportunity to prove myself and excel (see "meritocracy"). This trend has continued through my 5-year career - Sales commission structure: it is generous and sky is the limit once you reach Director level

Cons

- Simply put, this is not for everyone. It can be a high intensity environment and most managers hold their employees to an incredibly high standard. For the right employee, that is seen as a motivating factor and a challenge to rise to. For others, it crushes them quickly. It's not an easy job, and people expecting to be able to sit around and read articles on the internet all day and chat online with their friends (especially relevant with some young, entry level hires) will quickly find this is not that kind of place. - Bandwidth: tied to the above point, with the way the structure is set up, if you are doing well and growing in business, bandwidth can start to max out quickly, so consistent recruitment and growth of teams is essential to maintain balance.
