Pros
Pay and family time was amazing
Cons
In my opinion, working for Transdev, contracted for Waymo self-driving trucks, was nothing short of a nightmare. This company systematically undervalued and mistreated contractors, hiding behind "PC culture" to marginalize anyone they deemed unworthy. The environment was suffused with fear and exclusion, creating a profoundly toxic atmosphere. Contractors faced relentless aggression, pressure, and hostility. The lack of support and respect made it nearly impossible to perform our duties effectively. Now that my NDA is up, I can speak openly about the hostilities, racism, and rampant prejudice that were a daily reality at Waymo. They treated truck drivers and software operators like dirt. It's a disgrace that such open discrimination and hostility are still tolerated. Companies must foster inclusive and supportive atmospheres where all employees are treated with dignity and respect. Calling out such injustices is not just necessary but imperative for creating workplaces that uplift rather than demean. Put one positive note while the contract lasted. We did get paid well and didn't have a high work week. A lot of it was wasted time because upper management did not know what they were doing and could not siphon a schedule that made productivity. They wasted so much money on stuff that should have never been in thought.
