Pros

Working with true professionals - that's the #1 "pro". The porters, engineers, property management, leadership - they're all just "good people". Infallible? No. Human? Yes. But TW doesn't just hire just anyone. They really go deep in the interview process, in the interest of both making sure you're the right fit for them as much as making sure their needs are a good fit for your career goals. This is a boutique firm. They only hire top-notch talent, and only the friendly ones. At every possible turn, they've (both direct manager and people higher up the corporate ladder) had opportunities to disappoint or cut corners, and they never have. In a world of more and more bad apples, I'm proud to call myself a Transwestern employee because I truly feel like I'm working for "the good guys". I only wish I'd found this place earlier in my career.

Cons

Honestly, the only POSSIBLE downside is there are less corporate ladders to climb, here. At bigger companies (like CBRE?) there might be more opportunities for "growth", but the impression I get is that they are fluffed-up "opportunities" that require a lot of stress and sacrifice to achieve. You will work "hard" (average?) at Transwestern, but it just doesn't feel like work. We're a family who works together toward a common goal and there's no bulls sit or backstabbing. That's worth a lot. Plus, they pay well. Work at a big huge international company first, climb that ladder a bit, then come here where you'll wish you had been five years earlier ;)

Pros

They have decent work-life balance opportunities.

Cons

The company provides to training, it takes years to get promoted, leadership has no integrity, they are very dishonest and operate out of nepotism. You will only get somewhere in the company if you are buddy buddy with senior management.

Pros

Same level co-workers were awesome.

Cons

No consistency in HR policies, varied from manager to manager. So if you were switched to a different manager you would get written up for things that your previous manager thought was acceptable. I should have gone to HR (as my colleagues urged me to do) while I was being bullied for I was being asked to do things that were not TW policy nor expected by any of my other colleagues. Certain managers were wonderful, a few honestly shouldn't ever be put in a manager position. No employee should be reduced to tears because of the hostility of their manager, then be forced to quit because of her. Completely overloaded the PMs and have a huge high turnover in admin because of no training/support, Accountants are forced/bullied at the first of each month to make sure the TW invoices are paid immediately so TW gets their money over making sure that your financials are done for the owners in time and are 100% correct. You would get in trouble for helping people because "it's not your job" however when you see colleagues struggling because they have a heavy workload as well is not being given the proper training, and you have the time - why the heck not? MINIMAL support from managers when a problem arises, only to take the other side. Then when you prove to them you were 100% correct, they shrug it off and you look like a scapegoat. Ridiculous meetings should never happen from the 1st to the 15th when everyone is under pressure to get reports out.

Wow, we sure missed the boat in your case. You are right, different managers have different expectations, and circumstances/clients/issues/team members are not the same. We are a better company because of your comments, and we will continue to strive to improve.
