Pros

The line staff are amazing from probation officers to supervision officers.

Cons

The new executive team has little to no experience as actual Juvenile Probation Officers. Very poor management, lack of communication, lack of interaction with staff. The new chief has definitely created a hostile and divisive department JPO’s vs JSO’s.

You’ll attain customer service skills and knowledge that can help you transition should you choose to. The county has decent benefits and retirement as well.

Cons

As with any customer facing job, when faced with a customer that doesn’t understand something even after you’ve explained it to them, it takes a bit of effort to not get frustrated and instead figure out a way to simplify your explanation. even.
