Way Overworked Way Underpaid Terrible work-life balance Field chemists get treated like garbage If you want a promotion, all you have to do is kiss a$$ Promised promotions/raises, then company doesn't deliver Chemical exposures often go untreated

Pros

Good opportunity to learn the industry. Company is dedicated to growing their employees skills through extensive training. Focus on promotion from within. Treat field staff well with company sponsored outings.

Cons

They are on the low end of the compensation curve. The main opportunity to earn a lot is through extensive overtime (readily available). Management forces annual employee turnover. Senior management plays favorites quite openly. If you're not identified for advancement quickly, take your experience and move on. Non customer facing positions are not really valued.

Pros

TEI has an excellent benefits package. Mr. McQuillan spares no expense when it comes to benefits. Generous 401K matching, Blue Cross PPO for health insurance, Blue Cross for dental all in all great benefits. More generous than most other companies that I have worked for.

Cons

Horrible with employee relations. Unless you work in just their office and have a degree you are nothing to them. The Field Service Techs and Waste Water Techs bust their butts and get no respect from the company when it is those employees that are keeping TEI in business. Also no matter how long you have worked there you are not safe. One guy was fired a few months ago after being there for 10 years and was loved by the customers simply because the new manager they hired who had been there for less than 1 year for his dept. didn't like him. Office politics at TEI stink. Its a popularity contest and the awards that they give out every year are a joke.
