Pros

You receive a $600.00 per week salary that is true. Their benefits are reasonably good after a 90 day waiting period. Commissions can be reasonably high as long as you're selling multiple programs. You are outside of the office at least 50% of your selling day. If you've never sold anything before, this could be a great proving ground for you, but expect to put in at least a 55 hour week. Promotions do come from within for the most part, if you're accepted as "one of the guys" in management's mind. You'll quickly notice who these people are. Congratulations and make certain this is the job you really want to pursue.

Cons

All of your activity is tracked - where you travel, how many calls you make, the area you're calling on, everything. The salary locks you into working as many hours as the branch sees fit, including Saturdays (9AM-2PM). Your day begins at 10 or 11AM and ends at 8PM and you can't leave early. Commissions aren't paid until you reach a sales threshold ($2,500) and you will be expected to collect credit card information at every sale. Mileage is paid back at $.20 per mile which is not going to cover your expenses, and it's not all of your miles traveled throughout the workday. Get the 411 on that. Most new hires will make about $35K - $44K if you can stay long enough. Be prepared to sacrifice most of your family or social life to the company. You will be required to make 80 - to 100 door knocks per day - no exceptions. Finally, you will recieve 12 days of Personal Time Off (PTO) and this covers any and all time you need to go on vacation, see the doctor or dentist, go on another job interview, attend your kid's school activities, including parent teacher conferences, etc. You don't qualify for at least 90 days unless it's a dire circumstance. and if it is you'll probably not be paid for the day or half a day if you haven't built up enough time off. You will receive about 1.85 hours of PTO per week. If you plan to stay with TruGreen save your PTO for the latter part of the year. You'll probably be placed on Seasonal Active Leave after Thanksgiving. This is a way to save up some additional income for yourself to buy Christmas gifts. My advice - move on to something else.

Pros

The only real pro to working for this company is the starting base pay is $500 a week salary, which is more than the starting pay of minimum wage at other companies.

Cons

There are too many cons for me to list them all so I'll just stick with the most important ones... so yes the $500 a week salary you get paid is great, but that's only true for the first 90 days during your probationary period when you're only working 40 hours a week; once your 90 day probationary period is over you're then required to work 10-12 hours a day - 6 days a week (60-70 hours). And because they pay $500 a week SALARY, they can make you work as many hours as they want and never have to pay you overtime. Now you do have the ability to make more money by earning commission but that's only if you can get enough sales! The requirements change month to month but on average you must make at least 4 sales within a week to even qualify for commission. And the sales are NOT easy to get because this company has a bad reputation of killing peoples grass and totally destroying their yards and people seriously do not like TruGreen... with no exaggeration I would knock on 120 doors in one day and out of them 115 would either slam the door in my face, scream at me, curse me out, threaten me, throw something at me, literally chase me down the street, or call the cops on me. The other con is there are no company vehicles for the sales people. You have to drive your own personal vehicle 100+ miles a day from neighborhood to neighborhood just so you can park on the street and walk from house to house knocking on doors. The b.s. this company puts their employees through and the crap they expect us deal with is absolutely ridiculous.

Pros

Can't think of many- by far the worst job I've ever had. If I had to say something was a pro it would be building relationships with coworkers.

Cons

Where do I begin.... Door to door sales in this day and age makes no sense, but TruGreen forces you to knock from 11am to 8pm Mon-Sat. I was ordered to knock doors until sunset during the summer, which was nearly 9pm. Be prepared to get yelled at daily just for doing your job. Most people are not happy to see a door to door salesman. Pay is not very good. Very small base salary around 30k and I'd say a decent rep would be lucky to make 5k in commission per year. They have reps aggressively upsell existing customers over the phone. This goes on for the entire fall/winter and early spring. You will be expected to make calls non stop to these people who have already been bothered numerous times through the year. Needless to say there was some heated customers and rightfully so. Overall, just a really bad experience for me, but to each their own.
