Pros

Very good product that people want to buy.

Cons

As a sales rep for Tuff Shed, your pricing will always be more than a Tuff Shed sold at Home Depot. If you work at the Escondido factory, there is a brand new Tuff Shed sales center at an Escondido Home Depot. I made sales to customers and then had to cancel them because I was undercut by Home Depot and Tuff Shed management didn't care. Whatever is worse than micro management, is what goes on, company wide, at Tuff Shed. It's not enough to log every customer interaction in Salesforce, you have to then log your totals on an Excel spreadsheet. Every sales position I've ever been in, if you're exceeding your sales objective, you're left alone. Isn't that why we're in sales? Not at Tuff Shed. Your manager will grade your customer interactions. It doesn't matter if you sold the customer a shed or not, if you don't enter a detailed description of your customer interaction, and illustrate the sales progression, you could receive a failing grade. You'll be paid $15 an hour and 2% commission. You have to clock in and clock out for lunch. Even if you have a customer sitting in front of you and another waiting, if you don't take your lunch inside of your first five hours, you'll receive a lecturing email from your GM. There's no training - you have to learn on the job - but that won't spare you from receiving nasty grams from your GM. Maybe (I'd imagine they'd have to be) the GMs at other Tuff Shed locations are easier to work with, but the one in Escondido... he can't talk to you like a human. He can't simply ask you why you did or didn't do something, he feels compelled to send you a negative, condescending email instead. You have a regional sales manager who is spread so thin, he or she will be completely useless. You might see that person once, every other month. There's a corporate marketing department, but you're still required to place Craigslist ads and book your own home shows, and the Tuff Shed website is out ranked by the Home Depot version. As a sales rep, your an employee, but your Home Depot equivalent is a manager, so you lose again. I gave the owner a failing grade because, although he seems like a nice man, he lets all this BS go on underneath him.

You dont have a set job there like they say you do when you get hired. Also we wernt even getting 40 hours a week.one day you work 12 hours the next day your only working 5 so they can take away all of your overtime.and the management is a complete joke and doesn't solve any of the problems in the shop .

Pros

Support employees who are overworked and underpaid.

Cons

Our "stay until the work is done" policy isn't correct. When they require the manufacture, painting, stacking and racking of 12-16 buildings per day. Buildings totally prepared to be installed built in one day. They make the day 13 hours long--and sometimes longer. The work week rolls into Saturday--60 plus hours per week. Pay raise..Per our supervisors "we are only allowed to give a 3 percent pay raise by corporate but because we work so much overtime and can't meet our hours and goals we can only give you a 1.5% pay raise"..the cost of living in portland oregon area went up over 3%???? Pay raise??? And if we work so much overtime --why do we have to beg to leave before the max allowed by law 13 hours. Why do they "not approve" requests for vacation time? Why do they change your time sheet in the computer to "unpaid day off" "ABSENT" when you call in sick in accordance with company policy. Why do the make every attempt ---threats, intimidation ?? to make you not not request days off for doctors, vacation..whatever. Why in God's Name do they schedule more work than can possibly be done in a 13 hour day--and complain about our overtime--not letting us go home.. Do the managers get a big bonus or something that we don't know about. Some of the managers say that they like us to work overtime--because they have to stay also--they need the money so badly. I don't understand their motivation. They referred to us as trained monkeys.

Thanks for your review. The Tuff Shed management recognizes that summer is a very busy time and much hard work is demanded of our factory employees during this intense time period. We appreciate that effort and try to reward it appropriately. However, the company takes issue with any suggestion that it operates outside the requirements of any applicable labor law or code.
