Easy and adaptable schedule, some independence.

Cons

Sometimes run out of things to do, folks will forget that you're a student and that classes should come first.

Lot's of variation in TAships

Pros

Flexible work schedule, opportunity to learn/teach interesting topics.

Cons

Every TAship is different, so some assignments may be more difficult and time consuming than others. TAships should take no more than 20/hrs per week to allow for research to take place, but that isn't always the case. You don't really get a say in what you TA. TA assignments are often not told to you until the last second, making it hard to plan schedules for research.

Pros

Good students, smart colleagues, great city

Cons

low faculty pay. Money goes to bloated administration and athletics. Badly run institution. Benefits mediocre and very expensive. population pretty non-diverse. not enough (official) support for women faculty.
