      The Tutor Doctor program does provide flexible hours. As far as I know, all tutors in our area must have degrees or licensure in the subjects that they teach. I have Orton-Gillingham training, so our manager matches me with students who are low in reading skills. I can turn down students who live too far away, and as far as I know, my clients' parents DO read the session reports.

      Cons

      Even though the payment is $20 per hour, it is unrealistic to expect that because you do have to prepare lesson plans, purchase gasoline to get to the client's home, and purchase educational materials or incentives for the child. However, these are all things that I did when I was a classroom teacher, so these expenses do not surprise me. Still, I'm earning $15 when all is said and done. That is not bad for part-time work.

      There is a great flexibility you have to work with a family's or students' schedule. You can create a relationship with the family, and build your responsibility through the work.

      It probably will take a long time to match with a student.
