Low pay but low effort

Pros

Good subreddit to talk with other tutors.

Cons

The pay is very low and there are no guarantees that you will be able to get hours to work. Your pay and the number of hours available will be more reflective of your state's labor laws than anything else. You will also be micromanaged but depending on who your QS is this might not be so bad. Misclassification as Independent Contractor is common.

Decent but low pay

Pros

Tutor.com provides a flexible schedule with an 8-hour minimum work week policy for Quality Specialists. It is nice to be a PTE instead of a contractor- hard to find in an online tutoring/teaching job. The work isn't very demanding if you have a good team and good management above you.

Cons

Tutor.com recently cut Quality Specialist's paychecks in half with new policies about how much time can be spent on each task. There is not as much chance for promotions over time as there used to be. The overall quality of the service seems to be decreasing.
