Flexible, easy, and fail-proof

Pros

-Work from home -Flexible, you can log on and "float" to tutor anytime -Pay for STEM subjects is decent ($12-15) -15% pay increase if doing two sessions at one time The biggest pro is that it seems nearly impossible to get fired provided you do your job. I have taken a few long breaks (3 months without tutoring) even during the school season without giving any notice. I got promoted to Tutor II without doing anything. As long as your tutoring sessions are good, you approach students with enthusiasm and helpfulness, and follow the rules, it is very easy to do well at this company. I only tutor 5-7 hours a week for a bit of supplementary income, so I can't speak on behalf of those who tutor much more frequently.

Cons

Can be hard to schedule hours, but if you just float at busy times of the year, it is easy to get sessions for the busier STEM subjects (calculus and chemistry especially).

Pros

Make your own schedule and work from home. Starting pay is pretty nice; it's better than minimum wage. Raises are available if you do a good job. Lots of training and resources provided. Very organized staff.

Cons

Your work is always being reviewed by customers and your assigned mentor. Poor performance is punished. Hours can be hard to schedule starting off, especially during the Summer. Pay is monthly, so your paychecks are spread out. The software they provide can be buggy sometimes, but not often. Some customers can be very rude or irritable.

Pros

Pretty easy tutoring work if you're well versed in educational approaches If you're on for more than 15 minutes, you should get something My mentor was communicative and accessible Love the tie to the military & their families...I feel like I'm making a major difference in their lives and their children's lives!

Cons

Changing of policies...I've been on Tutor.com for just two months now and I feel as though things are changing all the time! Low pay...Probationary tutors are paid $10/hour and T1 are $11/hour for writing and social science tutors Can't show your credentials...If you're an IVY league tutor on here, no one will know the difference
