Just a Facade

Pros

Good pay scale, very good benefits package

Cons

The culture in the middle/senior management layer is toxic, backstabbing, sniping and dishonest to the core. Competency is a rarity. The C layer says all the right things about a culture of integrity and respect, but there is no expectation or requirement that their direct reports apply those principles. Staff morale can be cynical and low. The office environment is bad - way too many bodies for the space, workspaces are just large rooms with long tables where employees are crowded shoulder to shoulder, no personal space.

Pros

Fast Pace environment Great company benefits High visibility project Innovative Project Salary is competitive if you negotiate well (uses Fannie Mae salary ranges), but if you don't negotiate well prepare to be low balled (as any company will do).

Cons

Desks are in a lab style environment (employee farming to save $$$) Employees should not be on call after hours every night and weekend to answer calls / emails (not discussing designated deployments here) No work life balance Promotions are hit or miss, not merit based Agile / Scrum methodology not practiced properly Lack of company culture as there's reorgs every 6 months- 1 year (maintains Fannie Mae culture with upper management )

Dynamic work place

Pros

-Great compensation and benefits package -Fast paced work environment -Given the nature of being a startup, opportunities to help shape the future state of the company -If you are motivated there are ample opportunities to learn new marketable skills -Flexible teleworking options -Company mission is vital to the US housing market, even though it is under appreciated CSS is really a great place to work, we are afforded the chance to not only grow professionally but also help shape the future of the secondary housing market. Given the fast paced environment this may not be for everyone, requires someone who is ambitious and willing to think in a logical yet analytical manner. There are genuinely hard working intelligent people at CSS who are also a fun to be around which makes coming in everyday enjoyable. This is a young company who is constantly looking at itself to see where improvements can be made.

Cons

-Tendency to hire from outside instead of promoting internal talented people, which has led to some key people leaving the company -Organizational structure is ambiguous at times -Long work hours, nights and weekends are normal -Stressful at time due to over promising to our customers, this leads to duplicative concurrent work and tight deadlines
