Pros

The staff members of the UCSF Mission Bay PACU are collectively some of the most talented, kind, and dedicated nurses with whom I have had the pleasure to work in the past decade.

Cons

The overall morale of the Nursing Staff is sadly low, most staff members relating the only source of dissatisfaction directly to harassment by and mistrust of a specific mid-level manager. The sense of disempowerment and fear negatively permeates the department, impacting the overall productivity, the ability of staff to advocate (for themselves, for patients, and for the institution). If leadership were supportive, this would by far be the brightest, most impassioned, and healthiest nursing environment I could think of.

Pros

great retirement benefits if you last

Cons

many staff have only worked at UC and can't see there are better ways to do things. The culture is very stressed and dog eat dog.
